These are my GSP's - Lanie in the front and Obie in the back. Really good dogs, my wife and I enjoy them very much. They must be run everyday though, otherwise they are crazy. Don't ever get a sporting or working dog unless you are willing to burn their energy every day.
We bring them to the dog park for about an hour. We also walk them and do obedience training with them, but only after the dog park. They need mental and physical exercise to be happy. And if we don't provide it, they provide it themselves which is usually a bad thing.
There are breeds that don't need this level of exercise - true "lap dogs". Sometimes I think we'd be better off if we had chosen one of those. But then I think these dogs are forcing us to be more active - which is a good thing as long as we actually do it. Anyway, at this point they are part of the family and wouldn't be traded for anything in the world.

Last sunday, my pug Percy slept on the sofa for about 10 straight hours, all day long. I once called his name with a dog toy in my hand, then threw it across the room. Percy picked his head up, looked at the toy, looked at me, turned his head diagonally like pugs do, then laid back down.
He never stops making me laugh, but he is the laziest animal on earth.

Ours will sleep for eight hours two, the only catch you have work their asses off first. lol
